End of Year Review: 2017

A year dominated by Brexit negotiations, General Elections, sexual harassment scandals and Donald Trump’s tweets is edging towards its conclusion; indeed, in many ways we’ll be glad to see the back of 2017.

Here at Guerillascope, however, it will be remembered as the year we found our groove as a full-service media planning agency. Indeed, over the last twelve months, we’ve developed cross-media strategies encompassing TV, out-of-home, social media, online video, press, radio and Spotify. Led by our three guiding principles of flexibility, reliability and accountability, our can-do attitude has steered us down a course that has proved hugely beneficial in the development of both our talented planning team, and the clients who make us tick.

Our growing family

Which leads us on nicely to the best thing about 2017.

We’ve had the pleasure of welcoming some fantastic new brands into the Guerillascope family over the past year, including Amigo Loans, Diesel, Lyca Mobile, Varooma, Teletext Holidays, Calypso, the Financial Times, and Britain’s first Altcoin, Electroneum. Once again the UK’s number one media agency for number of advertisers on TV, Guerilla HQ saw 56 new business wins over the course of 2017; a feat recognized by The Drum, with whom we were shortlisted for Media Agency of the Year at the Drum Network Awards in November.

Of equal importance to having an effective new business culture, however, is looking after the clients you already have. That’s why we’ve gone above and beyond to deliver a successful TV sponsorship campaign around the Tour De France for Watchfinder, secure a hugely successful package around driving entertainment on Dave for Nextbase, construct a new social media marketing strategy for Protect Your Bubble in partnership with Hot Wolf, and deliver a strategic seasonal media campaign for giftcard marketplace, Zeek. Plenty More Fish, Premier Stores, Cash Lady and Federation of Master Builders are just some of the other fantastic brands we’ve had the pleasure of working with once again in 2017.

Joining forces with kindred spirits

This year has also been noteworthy for the partnerships we’ve developed and communities we’ve been welcomed into. Earlier in 2017, we became a proud member of the BVCA, which comprises 650 influential companies, private equity and venture capital houses, professional advisors, service providers and international associations. This means we’re perfectly positioned to support fellow members with individually-tailored, accountable media plans. We want to connect with business leaders and venture capitalists, assist them in scaling up their investments, and drive profits.

Then there’s our partnership with London & Partners, the Mayor of London’s official promotional agency. Celebrating everything our wonderful capital city has to offer ambitious and forward-thinking companies, we had a great time supporting our friends at the Money 20/20 event in Las Vegas, connecting with a raft of exciting FinTech brands looking to enter lucrative new markets. London is open, Britain is still great, and the future is teeming with opportunity.

Looking ahead to 2018

And so, we arrive at the point where we look ahead to next year. Having expanded our team with two new hires, welcomed a new managing director, commercial director and chairman, and nurtured trusted partnerships with media specialists such as the trailblazers at OOH Yes, we’re perfectly positioned to embark on the next chapter in our story: global domination! Already well-versed in delivering campaigns across Europe, 2018 will see us implement seamless cross-media strategies within other continents such as Asia and North America.

There’s also our ground-breaking, industry-shaking new project that will revolutionise the way TV advertising can work for small businesses owners and entrepreneurs. Watch this space.

So, why not pop in to our office, and chat to us about your ambitions for the year ahead at the Guerilla bar? We make a mean Mojito.

Finally, we wish you all a very merry Christmas – and a prosperous new year.
