Channel AKA

Launched in 2003 as Channel U, AKA took on its current guise following a rebranding. Specialising in the broadcast of music videos from up-and-coming, unsigned UK Urban/Hip Hop acts, the channel primarily targets the young, British population. Notable for helping to propel the careers of acts such as N-Dubz, Tinie Tempah and Tinchy Stryder, AKA has gained in popularity due to the interactive element central to its format. Viewers are able to voice their opinions on new singles through a voting system – wherein artists can also gauge the public interest in their material.
