Guerillascope welcomes Kit Buckler as new chairman

Guerillascope is delighted to announce the appointment of Kit Buckler as the company’s new chairman.

Kit Buckler ChairmanKit brings to the table decades of experience and achievements from his long career in the music industry. From orchestrating the famous Sex Pistols signing outside Buckingham Palace as Head of Publicity at A&M Records, to bringing Michael Jackson’s acclaimed albums Thriller, Bad and Dangerous to UK audiences whilst marketing director at Epic Records: Kit has been at the forefront of some of music’s biggest stories.

Guerillascope’s music consultant for the past 14-years, Kit has played a pivotal part in plotting the media plans for several major and independent record labels. Acts that have benefited from his marketing flare include Rihanna, The Killers, Stereophonics and Corinne Bailey Rae.

He was also responsible for running Sony Music TV from 1995 to 2003, managing the venture’s press, promotions and marketing whilst concurrently overseeing the curation of official Brit Awards albums for 5-years. And let’s not forget the Music Week awards won, with Kit taking home both the ‘Les Perrin PR of the Year’ and ‘Marketing Award for CD’s, Cassettes and CDs during his illustrious career.

As chairman, Kit will channel his expertise into helping the company continue on its upward trajectory. Working closely with our young and growing team, he will preside over all board meetings to ensure we remain firmly on course with our ambitious targets. His appointment follows hot on the heels of another addition to Guerillascope’s board, with successful business owner Craig Lowther joining the team as commercial director earlier in 2017.

Kit’s new role coincides with an exciting time for the agency. 2016 saw Guerillascope manage 96 advertisers on the small screen - 63 of whom were uninitiated in TV prior to joining forces with our team – as, once again, we ended the year as the UK’s leading TV planning and buying agency for number of advertisers on air.

We’re on course to repeat the trick in 2017, having just welcomed our 40th new business win of the year to the family. There’s also our continued expansion into other media, with exciting digital, outdoor and press campaigns currently being readied for the coming months.

Commenting on his appointment, Kit said: "I've become something of a poacher-turned-gamekeeper, having spent my career in the music business as a publicist and marketeer, and then in advertising as a consultant.

Therefore, when David Yorath (founder and managing director) asked me to take on the role of chairman for Guerillascope, I felt my experience from both sides might help this exciting and burgeoning young company move even further forward.

Guerillascope are in a unique position of providing guidance to companies new to TV advertising plus an expert and targeted approach for larger brands who want to extend and develop their business."
